TITLE: Frankenstein
STATUS: ongoing
My interest toward the story of Victor Frankenstein and his tragic Creature was born in 2023. Back then my newfound friends and I bonded over our sharred fascination with tabletop RPGs (among other things, but TTRPGs are crucial to this story). And so they promptly found a game to play, a system by the name of The Beyond. They came rushing to me and declared that I will play as Victor Frankestein, to them it was a no-brainer. Back then I had no clue who this man was (only what I knew from the echoes of popular fiction). I, however, agreed. Not wanting to disappoint my friends, I became determined to learn as much as possible: read the book, watch a movie, then another, read another book. (We still play this TTRPG years later, but I will talk about it elsewhere some other time.) Later - in 2024 - we all went to see a musical. It was yet another life-changing experience. "Frankenstein" the musical lit my heart afire ("Всё возможно!"), it took me through places i failed to see in my mind. And it made me feel seen (once again), it made me cry. This story means so much to me, I believe, that its forever engraved on my heart.
TITLE: Pathologic Classic HD
STATUS: ongoing
I was Pathologic Classic HD by my dear friends (a reoccuring pattern) and I was emmidiatly swept away by the absurdistic dialouges and overall vibe that Pathologic Classic brought to the table. My friend said that I should play the game, because she "saw a whole lot of Daniil Dankovsky in me". I never felt so see-through, so transparent, my entire core was right infront of her very eyes... She was correct.
This game fuels my fascination with epidemology, human anatomy, death, hope, theatre and architecture, and how all these topics can exist intertwined with one and another. Dankovsky's route specificaly resonated with me: fight with death, making the impossible possible, the conflict between mind and heart (or even body as a whole).
Pathologic Classic has a lot of room for interpretation, which I LOVE in a game/book/film etc. because it then transforms into a dialouge between the Author and the Player.

So! Kingdom Hearts...
Where do I even begin? This game series followed me into every stage of my life. It has such a tight grip on me, and it's not letting me go. What starts as a nice, bittersweet story about friendship and growing up, slowly builds itself up to be a more grandiose narrative (albeit silly, confusing and corny at times). I think Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep was my vert first game with a tragic ending. Sometimes evil people get what they want; sometimes you are left greiving the life you could have had; bad things happen, heartbreaking things happen. But what this game had taught me: is that you can't lose hope even if you think all is lost, you need to find connections with people and stay strong. Your friends are your power.
I hold dear the conversations that me and this game had together, it's what I grew up on, thoughts and beliefs I took with me on my journey. Kingdom Hearts made little me think about (often times philosophical) things like "what is good? what is evil?", "can people change?", "what is it like to be manipulated?" and most importantly of all "what it means to be a person?"
